This article is about three topics that are often encountered in both every day activities but also as project topics. Here we will share how we approach these topics when we are working with very young learners/explorers (2 - 4 years old).
Animals are an always interesting topic for children regardless of their age.
When we explore different types of animals we always try to provide children with different types of materials to explore as well as different way for them to express what they observed.
When choosing an animal to explore we like to follow children's interests as well as their ideas on how to approach the subject. We also use some of the evens from the international calendar such as Save the Elephants Day and Unicorn Day
Approaching literacy with young children can be very tricky and often times met with resistance. It is in every child's nature to move, to be active and to explore with their senses. That is why it is important to enable children with the ability to create and explore while approaching the subject of letters and literacy.
Travelling by car or means of public transportation is almost an everyday activity for children. That is why they show a lot of interest in exploring and playing with vehicles.
When children are already familiar with the topic it is much easier for them to engage both in verbal and in practical aspects of activities.
