International Kindergarten Horizons

Kindergarten Obzori was founded in 2006 and now has three locations. Two in the capital Zagreb and one in the near town Samobor. All our locations are situated in a green, quiet and residential area. We have a full English language programme which helps children to learn language in everyday natural situations. We have 100 children enrolled aged 1 to 7. Our aim is to make learning fun, whilst our child centred approach ensures that each child is treated as an individual, promoting the development of its emotional, intellectual and social needs. Our goals include the encouragement of each child's natural curiosity, active thinking and interest for learning.

Vrtec Pedenjped

The nursery school Pedenjped is a public, pedagogical – educational establishment, which organizes the education and guardianship of preschool. Our work is based on a child's vital and social needs as a whole, their physical and mental capacities, and the needs of the family and environment. Kindergarten is located at nine locations in the outskirts of the capital city Ljubljana and we can commend ourselves on having entirely dislocated highland units. We are performing a day-long programme for the children from 1 – 6. Our vision is for the nursery school to become a crossing point between the families, the pedagogical workers and the environment and for this connection to be filed with trust, mutual respect and unforgettable memories. We wish to enable the children to have optimal conditions for the development of a critical mind and autonomous judgement, so they grow into responsible, creative and eager-to-learn adults.

Inclusion as opposed to integration

Concept & Idea

This project is about bridging multicultural diversities in education. Our most important aim is to minimize all the excluding procedures and devaluations that are based on dysfunctions, race, gender, age, ethnicity, religion and create an environment of equal opportunities for educational processes.

Our three primary objectives in this project are:
Addressing underachievement in basic skills of math, science and literacy through more effective and innovative ways
Strengthening the profile of teaching profession
Lifelong learning perspective through improving achievements and transversal competences

The concept behind our project and its activities is lifelong learning through enabling integrated holistic experiences for children as well as providing educational experts with a reference source on how to achieve inclusion as opposed to integration in a diverse multicultural environment.

We hope you will join us on this very important journey
