It is important for us professionals working in educational processes to be aware of just how important it is to keep strengthening intercultural competences in our attitude toward ourselves and also in our attitude toward other professionals. Only then can we strengthen multicultural competencies in our attitude toward parents and children that come from cultural environments different from our own.
Preschool plays an important role in the process of children’s socialization which - together with the family’s efforts - encourages optimal development of a child in every area of their development.
Our kindergarten works really hard in order to have multiculturalism be the link between all the races and cultures, blended into one. To not consider any of them superior, and at the same time taking into account the diversity and differences of each and every one of them. We would like to see the children accept multiculturalism as something good and positive in their kindergarten years already.
To prevent intercultural conflicts and successfully coexist in a multicultural society, we need to develop multicultural competencies. The most important ones are empathy, respecting opinions of others, openness, knowledge, and the capability of adapting to other people’s values.
And how are we bridging multicultural challenges at our kindergarten? Take a look below.

The children are getting to know India

A Slovenian fairytale, told by an Albanian speaking mom
