Nature as inspiration

Now when the spring is here, we take a closer look at the biodiversity.

The theme we chose is the life-cycle of a butterfly. The children has followed real butterfly caterpillar. All the children followed the butterfly caterpillar how it transformed into a pupa and then into a beautiful butterfly.

When the butterfly was born the children made there own nectar, by picking flowers. The nectar we will give to the butterfly. After a while we will let the butterfly free.

Children also built their own special butterfly homes, so the butterfly has a place to live in. The butterfly home is put in the preschool garden.

Another project we had was a natural box of branches.

Our preschool is located near the forest. There, children have created a natural box of branches that we followed in late autumn.

We all looked at it if something has happened in it. Children check on it with excitement. One day when we were watching something had happened. It had grown up flowers.

We discussed what had happened. We got many good explanations. It had gotten hotter, rain had come. We all agreed that there was both heat and water needed for something to start growing.

When we came back from the forest the kids wanted to paint the flowers.

In the project called Earth Hour we focused on our planet. we planted and explored how do plants grow and what is it that they need to grow.

We used recyclable materials and had a lot of fun.
