Landakotsskóli is a school situated in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland.
There are 205 students from 5 years old to 15 and many are with diverse background. Last fall they opened an international department. In their work they emphasise the arts, languages and philosophy.
There are 40 people working within the school, teachers and other staff members.

Landakotsskóli was our host in our transnational teacher Training activity. Through the topics, we were introduced with various aspects of creating intercultural environment that enables children, parents/guardians and teaching professionals to fully develop their skills and strengthen their cooperation.
As we went through our topics, what was particularly memorable was the hands on experiences we gained.
Each topic was approached through theoretical background, examples of good practice and the practical part that included both terrain work and visiting other educational institutions.
We were also given a unique opportunity to sit down with the heads of The Department of Education and Youth in the City of Reykjavik.
There we discovered just how intercultural the city really is and how do educational strategies follow and enable that growth.
We found out about general misconceptions about people from Iceland but also about every day challenges in a life of a teacher.

Apart from our topics this mobility was a true intercultural and diverse experience from which one can learn a lot.
From incredibly long days and being introduced to a different culture. Through experiencing the architecture and the landscape to discovering the warm and welcoming personality of the local people who really made it a truly memorable experience.
