The month of February was devoted to getting to know oneself and the cultural heritage of Slovenia.

At the beginning of the year, we made an agreement with the parents to hold a workshop where they would be able to create carnival costumes for their children. We agreed that the basis for the costume would be a garbage bag, and the theme would be chess.
The winter was long and cold and we really wanted to scare it away. And the carnival was perfect for the job!
The children created the costumes together with their parents at the afternoon workshop. These costumes were then used as a group costume at the traditional carnival parade in Ptuj. Because of the winter break and winter illnesses, there were fewer of us able to be present in Ptuj than we originally expected. Nevertheless, we had a great time.

We also got acquainted with the most famous costume in Ptuj – the »Kurent«. The children were able to caress its fur, weigh its loud and heavy bells, and overcome the fear of the »ugly and evil« costume. In fact, they liked it so much that they even portrayed it later at the kindergarten.
We continued to celebrate the day after in our hometown of Zalog. The parade of costumes was bravely chasing the winter away from our town. That day there were no children in the kindergarten. Instead of them, there were clowns, princesses, lions, ninjas, Supermen…
In the afternoon, we had another gathering, this time with parents. We went on another parade through the town and then had a party at the kindergarten.

On Wednesday we cried when we »buried« Pust. The children helped younger children from another group and they felt very responsible. Together, we were mourners and we went to the funeral.
Pust was burned at the stake.
It's coming back next year!
Like every group of children that are starting school next year, we had to learn to adapt to the ice.
We are not ready for the hockey league yet. But we know how to play a lot of new games and we made some new friends with children from other units.

We also got to know our bodies from inside and out. We conducted a few experiments and everyone got to create their own book about themselves.
We realized we are all the same inside and we are not as different as it seems at first glance.
