Knowing others can start only by knowing about yourself

Knowing oneself is very important regardless of age.

We start building knowledge about ourselves at the very beginning of our life with the first cry and continue through our childhood, adolescence, adulthood all the way to our old age.

As we grow, develop and mature our own perception of the world changes - the perception of ourselves changes. For those exact reasons it is very important to provide children with plenty of opportunities to explore who they are as well as opportunities to learn about themselves and the world that surrounds them.

Here we are presenting activity ideas that we had in our institution. We choose to approach the matter through three topics:

  • Me & My Family

  • My Body

  • Animals & Humans.

We chose these topics because they enable a child a holistic approach to the elements they encounter in their every day life. Through our activities, children were provided with content that follows their interests and created opportunities to explore at their own pace.

Before you continue further, in our examples, you will also be able to see how each teacher has their own approach, preference in the materials they use as well as background that they bring into their work. That is a very important segment in every teaching professional's life - becoming aware of what we bring into teaching
